It all started when…

A hairdresser by trade, Billie Carrico jumped on board with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty during an unforeseen change in career. Admittedly, Billie’s first love was being a hairdresser. She was a Master Artistic Educator for Matrix of L'oreal. During her time as an educator for the household name, she traveled around the nation attending hair shows, conventions, award shows and more. She was forced to put her love for hairdressing on the back burner when she underwent emergency medical surgery related to her diagnosis with degenerative back disease. After a second surgery, Billie knew she had to make a decision. Billie found her niche at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty when a friend within the company suggested she put her people person skills back to work. Billie immediately found a strong correlation between hairdressing and her new career as a real estate agent. It wasn’t easy at first, but she found that she was successful in her new real estate business the same way she had become a successful hairdresser; through referrals. The huge client database she built as a hairdresser then became her real estate clients. She fell in love with the Buffini referral style and her real estate business took off from there when she secured the brokerage’s Rookie of the Year award.

Billie is very involved in the Xenia community and has been for years. She lives with her husband, Joey, whom she’s been with for 15 years now. Billie also has two daughters in college. She has been in the business for three years and has sold over $8,429,152 million in sales. Her first year consisted of 6 months totaling $ 1,071,255 million. Her first full year in 2017 totaling $4,212,997 million and in 2018 she sold $3,144,900. Billie’s business is growing. Two new agents will be joining her and her assistant in the coming months to form Team Carrico out of our Xenia satellite office. She is taking on a new role as educator/mentor for the Buffini system that she found to work so well for her when she started in the business. She will teach her first 12-week course for our agents this month called Peak Producers. Billie has managed to be successful in not just one, but two completely different careers within the past three years. That’s not something most people can say they’ve achieved in their lifetime!

Professional Q&A

Why Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty?

“I chose this brokerage for the stability. The agents have everything they need to run their business not only with systems and programs, but with the people. David Mussari has become a mentor for me. I can call him any time, he’s always willing to help and he gives me advice. And Warren Buffet owns it, come on!”

What sets you apart from other agents?

“I’m honestly just your girl next door. As cliché as that sounds, I was a hairdresser first so you can imagine. I’m your mom, your wife, your sister, your aunt, your cousin...I’m just me. I love people and I care about them. I have such a close network of clients that they have become my family and I treat them that way.”

What is one thing you believe every house must have?

“Every house must have a place to gather. Whether that be a big kitchen or a back patio, a gathering space to entertain family and friends is essential.”

How do you maintain a work-life balance?

“I’m always on the go, but when my clients call I’m there for them. I try to leave time for myself by getting to the gym and practicing yoga as much as possible. It’s always nice to schedule lunch dates with my girl friends and I enjoy spending time with my family. We go camping with our Toy Hauler Camper and ATV’s whenever we can grab a few days away.”

What advice do you have for buyers and sellers in the market?

“I would tell buyers in today’s market to ensure they get a pre-approval. We are in a buyer’s market so it’s important that sellers listen to their agent about the competitive market analysis. Every seller wants to aim high for the big dollars, but they should trust in their agent who provides them with the listing information.”

Describe a special interaction you’ve had with a client.

“This past year I had the honor of helping a lovely woman sell her house of over 40 years. Though it was a bitter sweet experience, it left an imprint on my heart. After having lived there the past few years alone due to the passing of her husband, she was ready to downsize but sad to leave. I was able to find someone to love her house as much as she did and she was able to go somewhere that was virtually maintenance free. While this was not my biggest nor easiest sale, it is one that will stay with me throughout my career.”
